How many people attend the Tryst New Year’s Eve Gala at the Townsend?
550 lucky guests will ring in the New Year with us at TRYST. We hope you are one of them! Last year's NYE party sold out well before New Year's Eve and people were begging for tickets.  A comfortable capacity will be strictly enforced  – no exceptions!

Who attends?
Those who enjoy an elegant, classy, dressy party, ages mostly Late 20's and up. Most are single, about 80% - and the rest are couples - EVERYONE is welcome to enjoy this classic NYE party.  The Social Connection’s reputation for hosting Metro Detroit’s premier events for upscale professionals draws a large group of those “eligible and unattached” however overtime our many success stories have given us reason to include everyone…small and large groups of friends as well as couples.  Everyone is welcome! 

What is the difference between the two ticket options?
We are glad you asked!  Because a large number of our guests are of the "eligible and unattached" status and New Year's is typically a night for couples we are hosting an early reception for those that would like to meet the new year...and more!  Attend the early reception to mix, mingle and meet others.  There are two tickets available with the type of bar package you choose as the only difference.   The doors open at 8pm.  

Are group discounts available?
Yes. Group rates are available for groups of 6 or more. Check the details section or call our office for details. 248.543-1000. 

What happens when we arrive at The Townsend Hotel?
All guest names will be on the guest list when they arrive.  ID will be required at the registration table to receive your wristband.   Wristbands must be worn throughout the evening. Don't worry, we get the kind that look great with any outfit!  

What are the Hotel Options?
Several Hotel options are available.  The Townsend has extended group rates to our guests who HAVE A CONFIRMED WITH a reservation to the party for a reduced rate.  The hotel will sell out so reserve early!  Because it's important that everyone has a safe New Year's Eve we have group rates also available at the Holiday Inn Express a short 4-5 block walk or drive from the Townsend.  Full details and phone numbers for reservations are found on the event description page.

Will I be able to get a drink?
Yes – The Townsend Hotel has hosted four out of ten of our highly successful and enjoyable NYE parties and is renowned for ensuring only the highest quality customer experience.  We will have 6 fully stocked and fully staffed bars to meet all your needs. 

Will I get a confirmation email?
Approximately 48 hours before the event, we will email you a confirmation reminder. Your name will appear on the guest list when you arrive. We will not be issuing tickets to the event. Photo ID is required to receive your wristband.

What about parking?
There are several public lots within a block or two of the hotel.  Valet parking is available for $8 per car – overnight valet is $24

What should I do with my coat?
Coat check is complimentary. Happy New Year!

What should I wear?
It's New Year's Eve. Guys should dress up and look nice and the ladies should wear what they think the guys would like to see them in!!  The event is black tie optional.   Men are not required to wear tuxedos, however a suit or sport coat is recommended.

Is it possible to guarantee seating?
We hope you are having so much fun you won’t want to sit down!  However if you do, there will a comfortable mix of tables with seating as well as high-top standing cocktail tables to hold your beverages while you are on the dance floor!  The Townsend has suggested the appropriate mix to ensure all guests are comfortable. 

What kind of music can I expect to hear?
DJ Whip is one of Birmingham's favorite DJ's spinning at the Corner Bar an any given Saturday.  He's known for keeping fans on the dance floor all night long!  You will hear mash-ups of all of your all-time favorite dance tunes spanning all the decades and today's most popular dance tunes.  

How do I purchase tickets?
On the Tryst Gala Detail Page there are 2 ticket options. Add your tickets to your shopping cart and simply follow the instructions to pay online. We have processed over 40,000 credit card transactions over the past 7 years so you your credit card and personal information is completely secure.  Be sure to provide accurate name and email information as your receipt and confirmation will be sent via email.  Your information is held in the strictest of confidence.  We do not sell nor do we entertain solicitations to sell information.  Your privacy and confidence in our company is of paramount importance to us.

Will I receive a Ticket?  How will I get into the party?
All guest names will be on a list when you arrive.  ID will be required to obtain your wristband which will be required throughout the night.  The Townsend Hotel’s security staff will ensure that no one without the proper credentials will be allowed access to the party. 

Will ticket prices go up?
Yes, tickets will increase by $25 after 12/25/08.  Merry Christmas!  :)

Are tickets refundable?
Tickets are not refundable.  You may, however, transfer your reservation.  All name changes must be made in advance with The Social Connection staff.

Can I pay with cash?
Yes. If you would prefer to pay with cash, please contact us to make special arrangements.  248-543-1000.

Will tickets be sold at the door?
Unlikely. We expect to sell out well before the party starts.  Our website will have the most up to date details about tickets and availability. 

Will anyone under 21 be admitted?
No. Legal, picture ID is required (Passport, State ID, or Driver’s License).
